Researchers at the University of Arizona studied 41 valley fever patients treated with the experimental antifungal pill olorofim. The drug works differently from existing antifungal medications by disrupting the fungus’s ability to make DNA, RNA and proteins. Doctors say some severely ill patients, including those with valley fever meningitis, regained the ability to work, drive and manage daily life.
