PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Arizona Cardinals have locked down one of their young stars, securing his place in the Valley for the next few years.

The team announced Thursday that wide receiver Michael Wilson agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2029 season.

ESPN sources say the deal is worth $75 million, with $47 million guaranteed. It also has a maximum value of $78 million, according to insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter.

Wilson was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Stanford University.

The 26-year-old appeared in all 17 games for the Red Birds last year and stepped into a primary wide receiver role alongside Marvin Harrison. Wilson had a career-high game in Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers, where he caught 15 receptions for 185 receiving yards.

Coming off a standout season, he became the first Cardinals wide receiver to hit 1,000 receiving yards in a season since DeAndre Hopkins in 2020. Despite the Cards’ losing record last year, Wilson shined with over 1,000 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Head coach Mike LaFleur had nothing but praise for the star during Thursday’s press conference.

“This is a special player that I don’t think has come close to being as good as he can be,” LaFleur said. “He’s the perfect example of don’t mistake his kindness for weakness.”

Fresh off the extension, Wilson had this message for Cardinals fans.

“Red Sea, deal just got done. Can’t wait for the 2026 season. I’m so thankful for the organization, the state of Arizona, all the fans, and just all the people that have supported me throughout my life,” he said. “This is a massive moment for myself and my family. Can’t wait to go out and prove why this contract happened, and hope to see you guys in three weeks for the first home game.”

During his three seasons with the Red Birds, Wilson has recorded a total of 2,119 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Cardinals kick off the season with a home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 13. Kickoff is at 1:25 p.m. MST.
