Arizona Cardinals player faces charges in guns and gangs investigation
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — This offseason has led to trouble for Arizona Cardinals right tackle Isaiah Adams.
The offensive lineman was among four defendants charged this week after an investigation into drugs and guns by authorities in Canada’s Durham Region, which is near Toronto.
The Arizona Cardinals organization declined to give additional comment regarding Adams’ arrest.
“We are aware of the situation involving Isaiah Adams,” a team spokesperson said. “Out of respect for the process, we will refrain from commenting further at this time.”
The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said its DRPS Guns and Gangs Unit completed an investigation on July 17 into a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking and in possession of a gun.
Police said they arrested that man and a woman, who had over 3 kg of suspected fentanyl. Police later arrested a second woman at a home.
During the investigation at the home, police reportedly found a loaded gun with a prohibited overcapacity magazine. The gun was found to have been stolen from Georgia.
On July 19, a fourth suspect, Adams, turned himself in to police.
Adams, 25, is facing charges of possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a license, possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a prohibited device.
The allegations stem from a police investigation, and all defendants will have an opportunity to be heard in court.
Adams is from the eastern Greater Toronto Area. DRPS is responsible for law enforcement across the Regional Municipality of Durham in Ontario.
