City of Phoenix to hire 200+ lifeguards for 2026 pool season
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The city of Phoenix is getting ready for this year’s pool season by starting its recruitment of lifeguards, which includes some big-buck bonuses.
Officials say they are hiring more than 200 lifeguards to fill positions at pools this summer. The city highlights that the jobs can help kids earn extra cash, build leadership skills while working outdoors in a fun, team-oriented environment.
The city is offering bonuses of $1,000 for swim instructors, $750 for lifeguards and $250 for cashiers.
The city is urging applicants to complete a lifeguard certification class as soon as possible. The classes are available for $20 at select Phoenix pools. Applicants must be certified by March 20 to be eligible for an interview on March 21.
The city’s latest certification class is on March 20.
