Company gives hot air balloon rides to Arizona pediatric cancer patients

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A hot air balloon company is partnering with the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children to bring joy to children and families going through health battles.

In celebration of National Hot Air Balloon Day, Rainbow Ryders teamed up with ACFC to let children soar through the skies on free sunrise balloon rides! Three ACFC families who are navigating through pediatric cancer got this once in a lifetime experience.

The families not only got a breathtaking view of the Sonoran Desert, but also a moment of serenity and peace through challenging times.

Employees made sure everyone got onboard safely and helped a handful of fearful fliers feel more comfortable so they could enjoy the gorgeous view.

“It’s something we encounter often; someone afraid of heights. Some of our pilots are afraid of heights. They are very well-versed in making sure it’s a good experience. It’s a bucket list experience,” said Lindsay Mayer, director of operations with Rainbow Ryders.

Two young boys conquered their fears and took to the skies! “I’m afraid of heights,” one little boy said. “Please let me command, keep it down low,” another boy added.
