Arizona food truck heading to California to serve meals to wildfire victims, firefighters

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Arizona food truck is heading west to serve warm Filipino cuisine to those impacted by the California wildfires.

“Golden Lumpia” will travel to Los Angeles this week to provide free hot meals to the wildfire victims and first responders.

After the deadly wildfires ripped through the Los Angeles area, Golden Lumpia owner Jhona Pacaonces said she was inspired to help after seeing people come together, put up tents and serve food to each other. She told her fiancee, “lets go.”

Golden Lumpia will head to California on Wednesday and serve meals on Thursday and Friday. They plan to stop by fire stations in Malibu and Santa Monica, and also serve meals to displaced people and the Filipino community in California.

About four days ago, Jhona posted on Instagram that they were going to California to serve meals to the wildfire victims. She said many people donated to help out so they could make hundreds of meals to distribute to victims, firefighters and those on the frontlines.

“We are heartbroken, and we’re ready to help with food, supplies, and volunteers to show fire victims they’re not alone, front-line firefighters risking their lives, and those displaced by the fires who lost their homes,” Golden Lumpia said in the Instagram post.

The post said if anyone would like to donate money, all of the proceeds would go towards the hot meals. They also asked for donations of supplies, like bottled water, that they would take and distribute to those affected by the wildfires.

“The little things we can do is just make food and distribute it to them,” said Jhona.
