Multiple Phoenix-area freeway closures planned for over the weekend

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Drivers should prepare for several freeway closures and ramp restrictions across the Valley this weekend for ongoing improvement projects, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use detour routes as needed.

Below is the weekend travel advisory issued by the Arizona Department of Transportation:

Loop 101 EB (Agua Fria Freeway)

Loop 101 eastbound (Agua Fria Freeway) will be closed between 51st and 27th avenues for the widening project from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps from 75th to 59th avenues will be closed.

Drivers should consider using eastbound Union Hills to connect with eastbound Loop 101 or I-17.

State Route 51

SR 51 southbound will be closed between Cactus Road and Northern Avenue for a pavement improvement project from 9 p.m. Friday-5 a.m. Monday. SR 51 southbound on-ramps from Bell Road to 26th Street will be closed.

Drivers should consider using southbound 7th Street from Cactus Road to Northern Avenue.

I-10 EB (Papago Freeway)

I-10 eastbound (Papago Freeway) will be closed between Verrado Way and Citrus Rd for a widening project from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. I-10 eastbound on-ramps from Miller Road to Perryville Road are closed.

Drivers should consider using eastbound Yuma or McDowell roads to access I-10 at Citrus Rd.

Loop 202 WB (Santan Freeway)

Loop 202 westbound (Santan Freeway) closed between Gilbert Rd and Arizona Ave for widening project from 10 p.m. Fri - 5 a.m. Mon. Westbound on-ramps between San Tan Village Parkway and McQueen Road closed.

Drivers should consider using westbound Pecos Rd or Germann Rd to access the Loop 202 at Arizona Avenue or Alma School Road.

Loop 303 EB

Loop 303 eastbound closed between 43rd Ave and I-17 for bridge project from 10 p.m. Fri - 5 a.m. Mon. Loop 303 westbound will be restricted to one lane between I-17 and 43rd Ave.

Drivers should consider using northbound 43rd Ave to eastbound Dove Valley Rd to connect to I-17.

US 60 EB and WB (Grand Ave)

US 60 eastbound and westbound (Grand Ave) closed between 27th Ave and Thomas Rd for bridge work from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Detour: Consider using Encanto Blvd or Thomas Rd as alternate routes for east-west travel and 27th or 23rd Avenues as alternate routes for north-south travel.
