Monsoon brings rain to the state

The monsoon made itself known Saturday afternoon with showers dumping rain across Arizona.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A fast moving line of storms brought rain to parts of the Valley Saturday evening as the monsoon let us know it's still here.

The activity started around 4 p.m. with a dust advisory for Maricopa, Ahwatukee, and east Valley cities of Chandler and parts Gilbert. The winds brought down a line of power poles near Maricopa. At least dozen power poles owned by an electrical cooperative, Electric District #3, were lying next to SR 238. A representative on site said only a handful of customers were effected and should have power back on soon.

The Prescott area remains under a flash flood warning until 10 p.m. The storms dumped between 1 and 1.75 inches of rain when they made their way through Yavapai County around 6 p.m.
