Red-light runner dies in Phoenix crash, police say

PHOENIX, AZ (3TV/CBS 5)-- A motorcyclist died Thursday after running a red light, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Investigators said 68-year-old Steven Charles Denton was riding his Harley Davidson in the westbound lanes of Greenway Road shortly after 11 a.m. when he crashed into a Toyota Camry that was traveling in the northbound lanes of 29th Avenue.

The two people in the Toyota Camry were not hurt, but Denton later died at a hospital. Police said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police said they do not believe impairment was a factor, and the investigation is ongoing.
