Loop 202 deadly crash

The Loop 202 Red Mountain was closed overnight after a person was struck and killed.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- The Loop 202 Red Mountain was closed overnight after a person was struck and killed.

Eastbound Loop 202 Red Mountain was closed at the Mini-Stack interchange due to the deadly crash at 40th Street, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. It was reopened just before 2 a.m. Wednesday.

A person on the roadway was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. It's unclear why that person was in the roadway or whether impairment or speed were factors in the collision.

No identifications have been made and the investigation remains ongoing. No other details were made available.
