According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, only one vehicle was involved. Aerial video from the Arizona's Family News Chopper showed the SUV off the side of the road.
Investigators were looking at skid marks in the westbound lanes of the freeway. The path appeared to run through the median and across the eastbound lanes, ending where the SUV came to rest.
Based on the aerial video, it looked like one person was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled through the median.
Traffic was being diverted to S.R. 347 near Riggs Road while authorities investigated the crash. The freeway reopened shortly before 8 a.m.
This is the second deadly crash this week in the same area. On Monday, one person was killed in a pickup truck that rolled over on eastbound I-10 near Riggs Road.
