PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – A woman was hit by a car and killed in Phoenix early Friday morning. It happened shortly before 4 a.m.
Police said the woman, who has not been identified, was crossing Thomas Road in the middle of the block near 21st Street when a car hit her. She died at the scene.
Sgt. Andy Williams said the driver stopped and stayed at the scene. He also investigators do not believe impairment was a factor.
Video from the scene showed barriers on Thomas Road at 22nd Street. Police were turning people around in a nearby parking lot. Thomas Road was closed between 20th Place and 22nd Street for several hours but has since reopened.
