BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – Travel on Interstate 17 was slow going near Black Canyon City due to a brush fire Saturday afternoon. The fire slowed things down in the north lanes of I-17 near mile post 248. On the opposite side, the southbound lanes were closed for a while near Sunset Point because of an accident. A few miles down the highway another crash slowed things down as it was being cleared in the same area as a brush fire.

Daisy Mountain Fire crews worked the brushfire in the median of I-17 just south of Bumble Bee Road. Traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction. Forward progress of the fire has been stopped and crews are working on mop up. Both incidents added up to miles of slow traffic for both sides of the freeway. There were cleared up a few hours later and traffic was once again moving normally.
