PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Suns fans are buying up team shirts and hats in record numbers. But what many of them would really like to purchase is a ticket to Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The only problem - ticket prices are downright expensive.
Prices range from around $600 to $30,000 on websites like Ticketmaster, StubHub, and Seat Geek. James and Greg Curry say those kinds of prices make it hard for everyday fans to go to the game.
"I'll be rooting from the couch like I'm sitting in the SkyBox," said James Curry.
"I would love to say yes, I'll buy a ticket, "said Greg Curry. "It's just not feasible at this time."
A number of fans are holding out hope that prices will come down closer to tip-off for game 2 of the NBA Finals on Thursday. Danny Sharaby is the president of Tickets Unlimited. He said that price drops depend on supply and demand, but with all tickets digital these days, last-minute deals are harder to come by.
"Look, you can always wait until the end," said Sharaby. "You may not have the same selection you would if you bought earlier, but there always is a chance that closer to the game, people will lower prices. It's just the nature of the market unless they are all out, and then it's too late."
