GILBERT, AZ (Good Morning Arizona) -- To cheer on the Phoenix Suns, a Gilbert nail artist has created some one-of-a-kind nails inspired by the team's City Edition uniforms. Her name is Classic, but her nails are everything but classic.
She describes her nail art designs as avant-garde and creating them as her passion. "It took a long time for me to find my voice and who I really was," Classic explained. "This [nail design] I stumbled upon merely on vacation, just trying to make myself look pretty. I got my nails done, and then all of a sudden, it was an addiction."
It all started in Japan, where she got her first set of nails done for $450. It took six hours, but she soon mastered the art and started competing. Those competitions have taken her all over the world, including Australia, Korea, Russia, and Germany.
Classic said as a nail designer, it was only fitting that she create some nails honoring the Suns and their fantastic playoff run. "The sunsets are amazing. The 'Rally the Valley' jerseys are awesome because they are about the sunset," she said. "The logo is the hardest part because it's a very specific font, and trying to go over three different moving nails -- that was the hardest part, but we got it.
Like the Suns winning playoff season, Classic says anything under the sun is possible for nail art. "Nails, you can do anything nowadays, and I love to inspire people with my nail art."
