Soul Carrier

PHOENIX (Jaime's Local Love) -- Soul Carrier is the answer to a question Jennifer's mother posed to her the summer before her senior year at Arizona State University. Her entire family was involved in a car accident that summer. Both of her parents died. Moments before a tire blowout caused their SUV to roll over, Jennifer's mother turned around and asked, "Where do you want to go …." She would never finish that sentence, and Jennifer never got to tell her mother the answer.

A Valley native, Jennifer Paige Boonlorn thought becoming a prestigious attorney should be her answer to that question. Her soul, however, had other plans. She set out for the shiny lights of Manhattan and Parsons School of Design: The New School. Her time in New York City included interning for Oscar de la Renta, dressing models at New York Fashion Week, designing products for Henri Bendel, and working in product development at American Eagle. Her fashion adventures also took her to Christmas parties with Marc Jacobs, fashion shows where she sat behind Anna Wintour, and jobs at Conde Nast that eerily resembled the movie "The Devil Wears Prada."

As incredible as Manhattan was, Jennifer's soul longed to be back in Phoenix. So she moved home and started working for a marketing firm that coordinated the festivities surrounding the grand opening of Barneys at Scottsdale Fashion Square. The mall decided to host an event called "The Mannequin Is Our Muse," where Valley residents were invited to take blank mannequins and turn them into art.

Jennifer Paige Boonlorn is the "lead soul behind Soul Carrier."

She collaborated with her friend Bob Wilkinson. The mannequin they created was covered in vibrant rag rugs from the Dollar Store. Bob, a fellow creative, encouraged Jennifer to put her design degree to use. Out of a pile of rag rugs, Soul Carrier started to take shape.

Jennifer wants to design products that bring more beauty and light to the world. Through her backpacks, purses, wallets, and masks, she hopes to inspire people to carry their souls in every action they take. She wants to encourage customers to walk with integrity towards their true north rather than the direction other people believe they should. She hopes for people to be authentic to what their souls truly desire. She believes your soul is your moral compass, and learning to tune out the external noise is one of the greatest things you can do for yourself.

Jennifer loves to quote the late EDM DJ Avicii, "Life's a game made for everyone and love is the prize." She hopes her latest offering of handbags makes an impact on you, and inspires you to pursue what you love. Jennifer leaves us with this passing thought: "May your soul always be your greatest guide as you journey through the game of life."
