SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5)--Two family owned businesses sit just steps away from each other on Brown Avenue in Old Town Scottsdale-- Porters Western Saloon and Old Town Gypsy Boutique.

Porters Western Saloon is a western saloon with a modern cocktail menu. Twinkling lights hang from the ceiling inviting guests strolling the street to stop. Once inside, they learn the rich history of Porters Saloon. The building was the very first Post Office in Old Town Scottsdale from 1929 to 1949.

It then became the iconic Porters Western Wear until 2015 and now is the new Porters Western Saloon. The owner, Grey Halpin calls his bar a comfortable space to belly-up and chat with fellow patrons and friendly Porters staff. Speciality drinks like the El Diablo, Sonoran Sunset and the Postmaster all named to keep the west and Porters history in the forefront.

Just two doors down, you'll find Grey's mom, Peggy Halpin at Old Town Gypsy. Peggy is a Scottsdale native born and raised and went to Saguaro High School. Her boutique is a cute and trendy nod to the desert. You'll find locally made cactus pillows, cactus necklaces and earrings. She carries great gifts for anyone on your list like llama mugs, cups with saucy sayings, leggings made from recycled water bottles, beautiful dusters and dresses and really cozy jammies. Old Town Gypsy opened its doors in October 2015.

[SPECIAL SECTION: Jaime's Local Love]

Porters opened just a few months ago--in perfect time for spring training. The Halpin's owned The Blue Moose Bar and Grill for 28 years before closing it last year. Located near Scottsdale Civic Park, it was a favorite place for baseball fans before hitting a San Francisco Giants game. But the Halpin's wanted a place with more foot traffic and hope their loyal fans will join them at Porters for a beer and Old Town Gypsy for something fun to wear.

You'll find Jaime Cerreta anchoring 3TV's Good Morning Arizona on Saturday and Sunday mornings. During the week, she reports on everything from crime scenes and breaking news to restaurant openings and community events.
