SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Jaime's Local Love) -- Frasher's Tavern is the dream restaurant for longtime Scottsdale restauranteur George Frasher. You walk in, and the tavern boasts BBQ and baseball. Located within walking distance of Scottsdale Stadium, the new concept opened a mere 6 weeks ago -- just in time for spring training.

Inside the restaurant, you'll see pennants for baseball teams that train in Arizona, along with caricatures, including one of Scott Pasmore, and memorabilia. He says he built Frasher's Tavern the way he wanted and created the wine list that he loves.

Frasher is the mastermind behind Frasher's Steakhouse (recently closed), Frasher's Smokehouse, and Mrs. Chicken. He learned the craft of BBQ -- yes, it's a craft -- at the hotel and restaurant management program at the University of Missouri at Columbia. At the age of 22, he opened the K.C. Masterpiece Bar and Grill at Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri, where he served as the assistant general manager.
Frasher's Steakhouse and Lounge, located in South Scottsdale, debuted in 1999. Some of the menu favorites made their way to the Tavern's menu--- including the famous Peppercorn Steak Soup. The menu includes BBQ, steaks, seafood, pasta, sandwiches, and St. Louis specialty items, along with Frasher's personal favorite, the prime rib sandwich.
Frasher is a hands-on operator and developed all the recipes himself. These recipes have led to numerous awards and a history of great reviews, most notably 4 stars from the Arizona Republic, Thrillist's Best BBQ Phoenix, and Phoenix Magazine list of 50 Best Places to Eat.
Recently, Frasher was a guest chef for Guy Fieri's "Players Tailgate" at Superbowl LII in Minneapolis, serving 2,000 guests and also judging for the Jack Daniels Invitational and Memphis in May BBQ festival.
