(Meredith) -- Police in central Florida are giving credit to hot sauce for saving a Taco Bell customer's life.
The unidentified customer had just gotten up from his seat to grab more hot sauce at a Taco Bell in Winter Haven Saturday when a car plowed through the store and slammed into his table.
Police told WFLA that the driver, 77-year-old Emmanuel Akowuah, was backing out of his parking spot and put the car back into drive. The car jumped a curb, crashed through the restaurant building and came to a stop about 10 feet inside.
The vehicle's airbags were deployed, but neither Akowuah or his wife, who was in the passenger's seat, were injured. No customers or employees were injured.
Police said the customer who got up to get hot sauce barely missed being in the car's path.
Police said the building sustained significant damage.
It's unclear if any charges will be filed.
