(Meredith) – A radio station in Cleveland, Ohio, isn’t going to play “Baby It’s Cold Outside” this holiday season after many of the station’s listeners voiced their concerns about the song’s lyrics.

According to WOIO, one of the employees at the radio station said the lyrics of the song may not be appropriate and went on to say that the song was written in 1944 and that times have changed.

Others agree, saying the song is too suggestive in the #MeToo movement.

We’ve posted the lyrics below. Read them and let us know what you think.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I really can't stay (Baby it's cold outside)
I gotta go away (Baby it's cold outside)
This evening has been (Been hoping that you'd dropped in)
So very nice (I'll hold your hands they're just like ice)
My mother will start to worry (Beautiful what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the fireplace roar)
So really I'd better scurry (Beautiful please don't hurry)
Well maybe just a half a drink more (I'll put some records on while I pour)
The neighbors might think (Baby it's bad out there)
Say what's in this drink? (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell) (Why thank you)
I ought to say no, no, no sir (Mind if move in closer?)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (What's the sense of hurtin' my pride?)
I really can't stay (Baby don't hold out)
Baby it's cold outside
Ah, you're very pushy you know?
I like to think of it as opportunistic
I simply must go (Baby it's cold outside)
The answer is no (But baby it's cold outside)
The welcome has been (How lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (Look out the window at that storm)
My sister will be suspicious (Gosh your lips look delicious!)
My brother will be there at the door (Waves upon a tropical shore)
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious (Gosh your lips are delicious!)
Well maybe just a cigarette more (Never such a blizzard before) (And I don't even smoke)
I've got to get home (Baby you'll freeze out there)
Say lend me a coat? (It's up to your knees out there!)
You've really been grand, (I feel when I touch your hand)
But don't you see? (How can you do this thing to me?)
There's bound to be talk tomorrow (Think of my life long sorrow!)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you caught pneumonia and died!)
I really can't stay (Get over that old out)
Baby it's cold
Baby it's cold outside
Okay fine, just another drink then
That took a lot of convincing!

Seriously? The stupidity in this country is astounding. Why do we buy into this stuff? It’s a stupid Christmas song. How many generations of women have listened to this and have not been offended by it. This country has become oversensitized to every little thing. I’m not making light of rape or harassment but don’t we have more important issues to focus our energy on than attacking a Christmas song? Next we won’t be able to sing Jingle Bells because some idiot thinks it refers to male genitalia. Get a grip people.

[ohmy] 'tis the season for "ugh, what next???"

might as well ban history so no one gets upset.

[thumbup] Exactly

This beyond absurd. The metoo gals really need to find something better to do with their lives... They've seriously hurt their credibility.

These need to go to then:
Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause for infidelity?
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer for bullying?
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer for elder abuse?
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas: Forced gender-specific gifts: dolls for Janice and Jen and boots and pistols (GUNS!) for Barney and Ben
White Christmas? Racist

I love that song! What's wrong with people??? Must be a wimpy DJ!

JF Conlon

I'd rather they got rid of Jingle Bell Rock and anything by Alvin & the Chipmunks. Also, Rudolph, because the other reindeers were clearly bullying him.

Joan - Rudolph is a story of perseverance, personal growth, and accomplishment. If you choose to see bullying everywhere then that is what you'll see... Why can't people try thinking positively instead of negatively all the time??

Rudolph was bullied because he was different. Then everybody realized he had something special that they could use to their advantage. Kinda reminds me of the black community today. "Personal growth and accomplishment?" lol. Whatever.

JF Conlon

Then again, Rudy may have a red nose because he's an alkie & shouldn't be driving.
Or he has a bad cold &.should stay home. Or he's just a whinger.

Just stupid

"Baby, It's Cold Outside" is a popular song written by Frank Loesser in 1944. It is a call and response duet in which a host, usually performed by a male voice, tries to convince a guest, usually performed by a female voice, that she should stay the evening because the weather is cold and the trip home would be difficult. While the lyrics make no mention of any holiday, it is popularly regarded as a Christmas song due to its winter theme.

"Baby, It's Cold Outside"
Frank Loesser

Loesser wrote the song for his wife and himself to perform at parties. He sold the song to MGM, which used it for the 1949 film Neptune's Daughter. It was sung by Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalbán and won the Academy Award. Since 1949 it has been covered by many singers, including Ray Charles, Michael Bublé, and Dolly Parton.

Why aren't the #metoo groups complaining about the song Santa Baby?

Oh brother another idiot liberal group raising he77 about a classic.
