PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) − A woman is dead after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in south Phoenix late Tuesday night.

According to police, 37-year-old Angela Innis was crossing Southern Avenue near 39th Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle. The intersection did not have a crosswalk.

The woman was rushed to a local hospital where she died.

Police say the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle did not remain at the scene.

There is no description of the suspect vehicle at this time.

The intersection was closed while police investigated. It has since reopened.
