BUCKEYE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5)-- The Buckeye Police Department is investigating after an elderly woman was killed in the west side of town.
The incident took place just 3 a.m. Monday at a home near MC-85 and Baseline Road.
According to Buckeye police, a caller told officers that a woman had been attacked inside a home.
When police arrived, they found a woman in her late 60s suffering from critical injuries. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she died.
At this time, police are looking for the suspect responsible and they don't believe this was a random act of violence. Police say the woman and the suspect knew each other.
Our news chopper flew over the area and spotted several SWAT officers searching for the suspect at another home just a couple blocks away.
Police were not able to find anyone inside the second home.
The woman's identity and the suspect's description were not released at this time.
