U.S. Marshals involved in Phoenix shooting

It happened Friday around 12:40 p.m. at a hotel on the east side of I-17 south of Cactus Road.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS5) -- Phoenix police say a woman is dead after a shooting this afternoon at a hotel on I-17 involved the United States Marshals Service. 

The shooting happened Friday around 12:40 p.m. at a hotel on the east side of I-17, south of Cactus Road.

The U.S. Marshals Service tells us that their fugitive task force shot a woman, and she later died from her severe injuries. No Marshals were injured.

The U.S. Marshals Service also tells us the woman was wanted out of Alaska for drug and firearm violations.

Phoenix police say the FBI will be investigating the shooting.

This is the ninth officer-involved shooting in Maricopa County this year.
