Officers say 21-year-old Sean Davidson had shown up at the business after it closed and tried to get inside through the locked front door. He went around the back where he ran into Watkins and another employee. After Davidson shot Watkins, he went to the front and broke through the glass front door, police said. A third employee hid and Davidson took off when officers arrived. Officers said when they first got there, they saw Davidson running south on 57th Drive and then headed east through a business complex. Officers surrounded the area but Davidson wasn't found.

Detectives researched where he might go and what cars he might drive. After sharing their information with Valley law enforcement agencies, the Department of Public Safety said it had a similar vehicle and its driver in custody at a Valley hospital following a chase. When officers went to the hospital, they said it was Davidson. Officers said he "made statements implicating himself," and they found other evidence that supports his involvement. Davidson is still in the hospital but when he gets out, he'll be booked on charges including first-degree murder, Glendale police said.
