WASHINGTON, DC (Meredith) -- Actress and activist Jane Fonda was arrested Friday while participating in a climate change demonstration on the U.S. Capitol steps.
Fonda, 81, was protesting with the group Oil Change International. The group has pledged to hold demonstrations every week focused on climate change.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that 16 people, including Fonda, were charged with "crowding, obstructing or impeding" after gathering for what police call an unlawful demonstration.
Video of the arrest shows Fonda being escorted away from the steps by police with her hands zip-tied behind her back. The crowd can be heard shouting, "We love you Jane!"
