'America: Love or Leave it' church sign

A church sign outside a Virginia church is stirring up some controversy on social media.

(Meredith) - A Virginia pastor put up a new sign outside his church this week that reads, "America: Love or Leave it."

The controversial sign at Friendship Baptist Church in Appomattox is drawing both positive and negative reactions online.

Pastor E. W. Lucas posted the sign just days after President Donald Trump tweeted that four congresswomen should "go back" to where they came from.

"People that feel hard about our president and want to down the president and down the country and everything, they ought to go over there and live in these other countries for a little while," Lucas told WSET-TV

Despite any backlash, Lucas said he plans to leave the sign up because of the favorable reactions it's garnered.

Lucas and his wife have placed messages in front of the church since he established it in 1979.
