Vehicle collision

TEMPE (3TV/CBS 5) - ​A bicyclist was killed after he was struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Tempe, police said, and the driver who hit him now faces charges.

The Tempe Police Department on Friday identified the victim as Michael Robins, 59.

The collision was reported around 8:30 p.m. near 52nd Street and Broadway Road, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Police said the vehicle was traveling westbound on Broadway Road through an intersection when it struck Robins, who was traveling south.

Robins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver, identified Friday as Jaquin Gurulee, remained at the scene; impairment is suspected as a factor in the crash.

Officers arrested Gurulee, 29, on suspicion of manslaughter and DUI.
