PEORIA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- A woman and three kids were taken to the hospital after being involved in a crash, which possibly involved an impaired driver at Lake Pleasant on Sunday night.
The crash happened near the intersection of Desert Tortoise and South Park roads on the lake's southwest corner.
According to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the driver, Miguel Espin, attempted to flee and was located later about a 1/4 mile away from the accident.
According to MCSO, the woman in the Hummer was flown to JCL Deer Valley hospital for non-life-threatening injuries but was later found to be paralyzed in her lower extremities.
The three children in the Hummer were taken to the hospital - two by ground and one was flown with non-life-threatening injuries.
The two passengers, according to MCSO, in the Toyota were taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
MCSO determined that Espin was impaired when the crash occurred and was arrested for aggravated assault, endangerment, leaving the scene of an injury accident and aggravated DUI.
