Toddler pulled from Phoenix pool on Thanksgiving Day has died

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Police say a toddler pulled from a Phoenix swimming pool on Thanksgiving Day has died. It happened around 10:30 a.m. in a neighborhood northeast of 7th Street and Bethany Home Road.

The initial report was that a 2-year-old boy was found in a backyard swimming pool. Sgt. Ann Justus of the Phoenix Police Department said Friday that that was incorrect and identified the child as 2-year-old Rosemary Solis.

"This is being investigated as a tragic accident at this time," Justus said. It's not clear how long Rosemary was in the water.

She had been pulled from the pool before paramedics arrived, but she was unresponsive when she was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Police have not said if Rosemary lived at the home or if she had been visiting for the holiday. It's also not clear if there the pool is fenced.

Justus said the drowning is a reminder to families to watch their kids around water. "It only takes a few minutes for a child to drown," she said.
