The business of sleep is now a 30-billion-dollar industry.

You've probably heard of products out there that help you sleep better.

Sleep machines, apps that track your sleep. Some companies and even airports are investing in sleep pods.

A new industry researcher report shows there are more sleep labs popping up.

That's where people go to fix their sleep disorders.

There were almost 2,300 of these labs that made around $5.9 billion in 2010.

Sleep coaches used to be only used by new parents for their babies, now adults are being taught the proper way to get the best rest.

It seems more people are understanding how important sleep is to their health and are buying in

I talked to the folks at the sleep system store, where they pride themselves on educating people on the importance of sleep and how to get a better nights rest.

"It's very important for the consumer to understand how to get a good nights sleep," says Barry Kersting with Serta-Simmons Bedding Company. "It's not just a mattress and a box spring anymore or just a mattress, literally, we are going to change the customer's lifestyle, how they sleep and help better their sleep.

"Our main focus is to make sure that when they walk out of here, they walk out with the right sleep system."

Sleep apnea affects more than 18 million Americans. The CDC reports about 4 percent of people use a prescription sleep aid.
