PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A 17-year-old boy is dead after a motorcycle crash in a west Phoenix neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened near 48th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard around 4:30 p.m.

According to police, 17-year-old Erik Flores-Valenzuela died at the scene. Investigators said the boy was traveling westbound on Encanto when he crashed with a pickup truck driver who was making a turn. The driver and the passenger of the truck remained on the scene and are cooperating with investigators.

Impairment doesn't appear to be a factor, police said. It's unclear if the speed of the motorcycle played a role. An investigation is underway.
