PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- The Suns have already broken out the brooms once this playoffs against Denver. Nick McKellar predicted that Nuggets sweep while he was defending himself against a Denver Nuggets fan who poured beer on him.
Fast forward nine days to today, and the Suns have a chance to do it again after beating the Clippers 120-114 in Game One of the Western Conference Finals. McKellar (who currently lives in Colorado) was back in the Valley, cheering on the home team. He also took some time to reflect on what happened in Game 3 against Denver.
“I mean it sucks that it happened in the way it did because I don’t condone violence," McKellar said. “I’m glad that people saw the right thing, and defending myself in the proper manner. And so to carry this forward in Suns in 4 energy throughout the playoffs is just something else. It’s unreal.”
Ahead of Game One against the Clippers, Nick definitely felt the love from Suns fans. He even drew the attention of Suns star guard Devin Booker.
“To have him as my backup in a certain sense has just been unreal," McKellar said. "And I’m glad he’s reached out to me. It’s been a dream and I hope to meet him one day.”
In the meantime, Nick issued a prediction for how this Suns vs. Clippers series would shake out.
“I think Clippers are a solid team, they’re gonna take at least two from us so I’m going to say Suns in 6."
But that was before today's Game One. After the Suns win, Nick went back to his original claim to fame.
"Suns in 4, Suns in 4!" McKellar yelled.
To double down on that, Nick and his crew handed out free t-shirts of him raising those infamous four fingers to Suns fans across the Valley and beyond.
“The love and support from my fan base across social media has been unreal. So I’m trying to give back to my fan base," McKellar said. "So I created a little GoFundMe type deal where I bought all these shirts and I’m giving them out for free. Just want them to know that I love your support and I appreciate you guys.”
