WINSLOW, AZ (AP) - Police in Winslow say a suspect in a shooting that critically wounded a man is in custody after a barricade situation at a home.
They identified the suspect as Matthew Garcia.
Officers were called to the scene around 10:15 a.m. about a shooting.
Police say a man suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was flown to a Flagstaff hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The man's name hasn't been released.
Police say Garcia barricaded himself in a home and took a man hostage. There were several other adults and at least two children were in the residence at the time.
All occupants were allowed to leave except the hostage, who was eventually released without injury.
Garcia faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and three outstanding warrants. Additional charges are pending.
Winslow is located about 200 miles (321 kilometers) northeast of Phoenix.
