Serious crash leaves 1 dead, another extremely hurt in Phoenix

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- One man is dead and another is injured after a multi-vehicle, chain-reaction crash that happened around 5 p.m. near Seventh Street and Dunlap Avenue.

Phoenix police say a white sedan was traveling southbound on Seventh Street and was attempting to make a left turn onto Dunlap, when a white pickup truck collided with the sedan. The impact of the collision then caused the sedan to collide with  a third vehicle, a white minivan.

The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. There were two people inside the sedan. The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The 45-year-old female driver was taken to the hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening. The two occupants of the minivan were not hurt.

Police say it's not yet known whether impairment might have been a factor. The intersection was expected to be  restricted for several hours. Phoenix police are investigating. Stay with for updates on this incident.
