PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- Police have identified the dirt bike rider who was involved in a deadly crash involving a police vehicle in Phoenix on Wednesday evening.
Just after 6 p.m., an officer in the SUV somehow collided with a dirt bike rider near 39th Avenue and Sweetwater Road, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Ann Justus. The driver of the dirt bike was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died from his injuries. He has been identified as 32-year-old Brant Antwon Deshawn. The officer who was driving the Tahoe was not injured.
Footage from the scene showed a dark-colored dirt bike in the middle of the road with debris scattered on the street. Police taped off the intersection for much of the evening. The investigation is ongoing.
