SURPRISE (3TV/CBS 5) − A man was arrested following a shooting that left a 27-year-old dead late Wednesday night at a Surprise sports bar.

Officers were called out to the shooting just after 11 p.m. at Tailgaters & IL Primo near Reems and Bell roads

According to the Surprise Police Department, 28-year-old Troy Paille shot 27-year-old Anthony Kenny outside of the sports bar.

Investigators say Paille and Kenny were associated and have had previous disputes in the past.

They believe this was a targeted attack on the victim and an isolated attack.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument over a woman.

Paille told officers that he was mad at Kenny for "going behind his back with his girlfriend and him getting kicked out of the apartment they shared," according to court documents released Friday.

Destiny Dickinson says she was with Kenny and other friends last night at the restaurant when Paille showed up. She says Paille had been jealous of Tony's relationship with his ex-girlfriend.

"He was always just trying to fight him, very pushy," says Dickinson.

She says Kenny was leaving the restaurant when he began talking with Paille. It even appeared they were reconciling.

"They went to go talk it out, everything looked fine," says Dickinson. "They hugged, then Tony turned around and Troy pulled out his gun."

Dickinson says she heard several shots and Kenny hit the ground. She tried desperately to keep him alive.

"He had a shot on his neck, I put my hand on his neck to stop the bleeding," says Dickinson. "A kid from the kitchen knows CPR so he was doing CPR on him."

Police say when they arrived, patrons were physically restraining Paille while others rendered aid to the victim.

When officers interviewed Paille, he said that he knew he was going to do something to Kenny and had been planning it for the last few months.

When an officer asked Paille why he used to lure Kenny out to him and he responded that he "didn't want anyone else in the bar to get shot so he planned on having him come out to him," according to court documents.

Kenny was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Corbin Wilkinson says Kenny made a big impact on him in a short amount of time. He says Kenny had an infectious laugh, loved hockey and helped him through some tough times.

"He always made everybody laugh, he was just a fun filled guy," says Wilkinson. "He never thought about himself it was always about someone else."

Tailgaters & IL Primo released a statement Thursday saying:

We at Tailgaters and Il Primo are shocked at the violence that occurred in our parking lot late Wednesday night. We express our condolences to the friends and family of the victim. We would also like to express our admiration for our patrons who helped subdue the shooter and hold him until law enforcement could arrive. Out of respect for the family of the victim and the privacy of our customers we would not like to provide any further comment.

Paille was booked into Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail on charges of first-degree murder, misconduct involving weapons and possession of marijuana.

The family sent Arizona's Family a GoFundMe link to help pay for Kenny's funeral expenses.

Just another member of that "well regulated militia" the 2nd Amendment describes...

Not a member of the 2nd amendment militia, rather a member of the criminals who are allowed to roam by your liberal justice system that will not punish this type of person.
