PHOENIX (3TV/CBS5) -- A Phoenix teacher has been arrested after a young woman reported having sexual relations with him multiple times over an approximately six-year period, beginning when she was just 16 years old and he was 30.
David Arlo Beck, now 36, was arrested on Nov. 22 on charges of sexual conduct with a minor. Police say Beck is a teacher in the Fowler Elementary School District in Phoenix. The district said it put him on leave the day he was arrested.
The victim, now 22, says she and Beck had sexual relations "on multiple occasions starting when she was 16 years old and continuing until she was 22 years old," according to the police report. Court documents also say that Beck admitted to having sex with the victim when she was 16, and "told her if she was asked about it to lie and say she was 20 years old."
The Fowler Elementary School District released a statement Tuesday evening.
"Fowler Elementary School District received communication from a Phoenix police detective on November 21, 2019, that David Beck was under investigation by that police department," the statement reads. "The District placed him on administrative leave on that date. He has not returned to our campuses. The District administration has continued to co-operate with the authorities regarding this matter. The District does not have any information that any district student was involved in the allegations that have led to his arrest."
The police report indicates that Beck has previous arrests and convictions for DUI, possession of marijuana and urinating in public. A judge set Beck's bond at $50,000.
