Phoenix apartment sex assault suspect composite sketch

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Authorities are searching for a man suspected of sexually assaulting a girl in her apartment Friday morning in Phoenix, police said.

The incident was reported around 6 a.m. near 7th Street and Indian School Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police said the man forced his way into the victim's apartment and sexually assaulted her. The victim's step-father saw the suspect in the apartment and chased him onto Indian School Road where he fled eastbound.

Police said the suspect may be a transient and has been seen in the area.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 6 feet tall and weighs 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark hoodie, a dark tan baseball hat and was carrying a dark navy or blue backpack. He is between 30 to 50 years old.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Phoenix Police Department.

When they catch this guy, some defense attorney will have a heyday with the wrong date on the composite... It's conceivable the suspect could walk because of it (stranger things have happened.) Keep that in mind the next time you accuse someone of being a "Grammar N-a-z-i" for not proofreading their work - accuracy matters.

It says it happened at 6am. Today? Because the sign & date on the pic is from a year ago...? So did the artist get the date wrong or is this a yEaR old??? Really odd.

I'm guessing the artist accidentally put 2017 when they really meant 2018. I know it's common in January, but I've caught myself writing the wrong year even this late in the year.
