NAVAJO NATION (3TV/CBS 5) – A Phoenix man will spend the next 22 years in a federal prison after pleading guilty to abusive sexual contact with a child. According to prosecutors, Maurice Xavier Hollins sexually abused the 8-year-old victim while staying with their family on the Navajo Nation in early 2020.

U.S. District Judge Douglas L. Rayes sentenced his last week to 270 months (22.5 years) in prison. “After Hollins finishes serving his term in federal prison, he will be placed on supervised release for the rest of his life,” explained the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona said.

According to court records, the complaint against Hollins, 25, was filed in late May 2020, and he was arrested on June 11, 2020. He was indicted on three separate counts in late September 2020. He pleaded guilty to one of those charges as part of a plea agreement filed on May 27, 2021.

The investigation was a joint operation between the FBI and the Navajo Nation Department of Public Safety.
