PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5)--With many schools closing due to the coronavirus outbreak, many low-income families are scrambling to find foods for their children. Many school districts are working on plans to make sure children don't starve during this outbreak.

With many Phoenix-area schools closed for at least two weeks, workers are making sure students are still getting food.

Burger King

Beginning March 23rd, Burger King will offer two free kid's meals per adult meal ordered.

The offer applies to any purchase made online or via the Burger King app. However, it's only available at participating locations across the U.S. while supplies last. The coupon offer can be redeemed one time per guest daily through April 6.

Sal's Gilbert Pizza 

While Sal's Gilbert Pizza isn't a school, they want to make sure children have a full stomach during this outbreak. Children and their families can pick up a meal at no charge from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays until schools reopen. 

Agua Fria Union High School District

Agua Fria Union High School District is partnering with Avondale and Litchfield Elementary School Districts to provide Grab & Go meals. The elementary schools will distribute those meals. Pick up times vary from school to school.

Alhambra Elementary Unified School District

The district will distribute sack breakfasts and lunches from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at all Alhambra schools Monday through Fridays while closed.

"We have a number of child nutrition employees and bus drivers across the district who are here to prepare thousands of meals, so we can feed our children," said Linda Jeffries, with Alhambra Elementary School District. On the school district's website, you'll find an interactive map showing you when and where you can pick up school lunches. "This interactive map will likely be changing from day to day, so we ask our parents to check the website each day for any updates on the distribution meal plan," said Jeffries.

The district said it has 25 locations where meals will be distributed. "The process was easy, and everything was done quickly and less panic that way, and it made it easier for everybody," said mom, Christina Christopher. She said it's really helpful to still get the meals."Kids want to snack all day, and this stuff will last them through the day," said Christopher.


Avondale Elementary School District

Avondale ESD will have select bus stop locations where grab-n-go breakfast & lunch for children will be available for pick-up. Families coming to pick up food should still ensure social distancing for the safety of our community.


Blue Ridge School District

Beginning April 14th, The Blue Ridge School District will distribute three days' worth of food on Tuesdays and Fridays each week from 10 a.m. to Noon. Please contact the school district for more information.

Buckeye Elementary School District

Breakfast and lunch will be available at all of our sites through a drive-thru pick up on Monday. Breakfast will be available from 9 a.m. to 10: a.m. and lunch will be available from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.


Cartwright School District

The Cartwright School District will be providing breakfast and lunch for free to any individual under the age of 18 starting March 17th, 2020. The meals will be served in a "grab-and-go" method to allow for faster service.  Click the link below to learn where you can pick up food.


Chandler Unified School District

Chandler Unified will serve curbside meals available from March 18th - March 27th, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  Should schools remain closed past this date, we will continue service and may add sites if the need arises. District enrollment is not required.


Creighton School District

Creighton is offering free breakfast and lunch to all children 18 years and younger on a grab & go basis. Families can drive or walk-up to the outside of all 8 of our school front offices to grab both meals at once between the hours of 8:30 – 11:30 AM. Adult meals can be purchased for $1 for breakfast and $2 for lunch. No paperwork is required and meals are to be consumed off-site. 


Deer Valley Unified School District

DVUSD will offer free grab-and-go school breakfasts and lunches to children ages 18 and under in our community beginning Monday, March 23. Meals will be distributed from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm  Monday – Friday at DVUSD school and community locations. 


Dysart Unified School District

Beginning Monday, March 23, DUSD will be providing meals to community members 18 and younger Monday - Friday, through April 3. Grab-and-go breakfast and lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following sites: El Mirage Elementary School; Kingswood Elementary School; Dysart High School; Willow Canyon High School; and Shadow Ridge High School. Meals will be provided near the exterior gates in designated parking lots. Children must be present to receive the meals.​

Fowler Elementary School District

Fowler Elementary is delivering breakfast and lunch to various bus stops.


Gilbert Public Schools District

GPS is providing free pick-up breakfasts and lunches for any child 18 years old and under, beginning Tuesday, March 17 at these times and locations. They said no registration or proof of income is needed. 


Glendale Elementary School District

Beginning Wednesday, March 18 and running through Friday, March 27, the Glendale Elementary School District will be utilizing a curbside meal service for our students. They will be offering breakfast and lunch to all children between the ages of one and 18. Families may stop by their local school between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to receive both breakfast and lunch meals to go. Children must be present to receive a meal. Adult meals are not available. Families do not need to register for meals and there are no income requirements.


Glendale Union High School District

Beginning Monday, March 23, breakfast and lunch will be available to children and students ages 18 and under at each one of our nine comprehensive campuses. For now, food will be dispersed via a drive-up/drive-through/grab-and-go model. Both breakfast and lunch can be picked up at the same time Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.


Higley Unified School District

Families can receive both breakfast and lunch sack meals, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, beginning Monday, March 23. Click below for locations.


Isaac School District

School officials will serve breakfast and lunch to all children during the closure at all Isaac schools. Breakfast will be served from 8-9 a.m. and lunch will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Students do not have to be enrolled at ISD. Also, meals will be provided at bus stops shown on this map. Kyrene School District

The Kyrene School District said they will be providing bagged meals for any child 18 years old and under beginning Tuesday, March 17 at various pick-up locations. Laveen Elementary School District

LESD is providing free breakfast and lunch to all children between the ages of one and 18 on a grab & go basis. Families may stop by any of our schools (except Vista) between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for lunch. Children must be present to take a meal. Adult meals are not available. Families do not need to register for meals and there are no income requirements.


Litchfield Elementary School District

Litchfield Elementary is offering grab and go meals at 8 locations. Kids are getting two meals a day.


Littleton Elementary School District

All Littleton Elementary School District Schools will be providing free breakfast and lunch! Click on info below for more details.


Madison Elementary School District

Beginning Monday 3/23, breakfast and lunch will be available at the Madison Camelview campus to any child under the age of 18. They do not need to be on the Free or Reduced priced meal program to participate nor do they have to attend Madison School District. This will be a grab-and-go style pick there each child can receive a lunch for that current day and breakfast for the following morning. Mesa Unified School District

Throughout the closure, sack lunches for children 18 and under will be available at district elementary schools from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each lunch comes with a breakfast item for the next day. Drive-through or walk-up service is provided. Families are encouraged to immediately leave campus after picking up lunch and practice social distancing. Find the participating school nearest you at

Paradise Valley Unified School District

Starting on Monday, March 23, PVSchools Nutrition & Wellness will begin providing meals to any child 18 years of age or younger, regardless of application status or school enrollment. Per USDA regulations, all children must be present at the time when picking up meals.


Pendergast Elementary School District

All twelve school sites within the district are providing a grab and go breakfast and lunch meal. The sites will be open from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm for the grab and go meals at the entrances of each of our cafeterias. Breakfast and lunch will be handed out during these hours.

In addition, our Food Service and Transportation Departments will be collaborating and distributing meals via specified bus routes within each of our school campus communities. The mobile routes will begin at 10:30 am, with specific route locations and times.

Peoria Unified School District

The Peoria Unified School District will continue free breakfast and lunch service to children through the state’s mandated school closures. Meals will be available for curbside pick-up from 10:30 a.m. – noon, Monday – Friday beginning Monday, March 23. All meals will be served in a bag with lunch and cold breakfast for the next day. Lunch will include hot or cold entrée, fruit, vegetable, and milk. Breakfast will include an entrée, fruit, juice, and milk.


Phoenix Elementary School District #1

Meals can be picked up at Dunbar, Garfield and Magnet Traditional from 10 AM – 1 PM each weekday. On Monday March 23rd, we will also begin providing meals at Hu-O-Te Park at 11th Avenue & McKinley each weekday from 10 AM – 1 PM.


Phoenix Union High School District

All PXU school cafeterias will open from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm to serve food to any individual 18 years old or younger. 


Roosevelt School District

Roosevelt School District will provide breakfast daily, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Lunch is being served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to Noon. Saddle Mountain Unified School District

SMUSD is providing free breakfast and lunch via drive-thru pick-up Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for anyone 18 years old or younger throughout the coronavirus-prompted school closures.

Scottsdale Unified School District

The Scottsdale Unified School District says families of children ages 18 and under can drive-thru or walk-up at several school sites to pick up meals. Children must be present in order for meals to be provided to them. For locations and hours, click here.


Tempe Elementary School District

The Tempe Elementary School District is serving meals between the hours of 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. only at 9 locations. You will be able to pick up both breakfast and lunch during this time.


Tempe Union High School District

Meals will be available for pick up at three of our school locations (Mountain Pointe, Marcos de Niza, Tempe High) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone 18 and under will be able to pick up two meals at a time for themselves: lunch for the current day, plus breakfast for the following day.


Tolleson Elementary School District

TESD is offering meals Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. They also have Saturday options.


Tolleson Union High School District

Tolleson Union High School District is partnering with the Elementary Districts to distribute meals to all children. Washington Elementary School District

The WESD will provide free breakfast and lunch from 10:30 a.m. to noon March 23 – 27 at 13 sites. Meals will be available by drive-thru or pick up. Children can pick up one sack lunch for that afternoon and one sack breakfast for the following day. All children 18 and under qualify and they do not have to be students in the WESD to participate.
