CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - A now-former Chandler firefighter is accused of setting an ex-girlfriend's house on fire after he got into a fight with her at a bar. It all started when Eric Jones went to Murphy's Law on April 17 for drinks but spotted two of his ex-girlfriends there. He apparently dated both at the same time and they found out. Jones got into a fight with one of them outside the bar and he pushed her, court documents said. Police got involved but Jones was allowed to leave.
At around 1 a.m. on April 18, police said Jones used a Molotov cocktail to start a fire in his ex-girlfriend's garage in Gilbert. Her 15-year-old son saw the flames and called 911. He told the dispatcher he spotted a red Chevy pickup truck fleeing the scene. The teen told police he recognized the truck as belonging to Jones. Jones was later arrested but said his pickup truck doesn't run because it may not have a battery in it. He was charged with arson, endangerment, misconduct involving weapons and domestic violence assault. Jones was a firefighter at the time of his arrest but the City of Chandler says he's no longer an employee with the city.
