AVONDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - A deadly crash severely injured two 17-year-old boys in Avondale Wednesday afternoon and left a pickup truck in pieces.
The collision happened between the pickup truck and a sedan around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Broadway Road. Police said the 33-year-old pickup truck driver is dead, while the teen driver and his teen passenger were rushed to the Abrazo West Campus hospital in Goodyear. Police said their injuries aren't life-threatening.
Aerial video shows the sedan kept going after the crash, went across a patch of grass before slamming into a brick wall. There was a bunch of debris in the intersection and wasn't much left of the pickup truck. The truck's frame and body were still in the road while the cab landed upside down 20 yards away in the grass. The intersection was shut down for hours before being reopened. An investigation is underway.
