GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- Officers responding to gunshots heard in Glendale Monday night found a man dead.
According to Glendale police, officers went to the area of 67th and Glendale avenues around 7:45 p.m. after being notified of gunshots on the ShotSpotter activation system.
Once at the scene, officers found a man shot in a nearby apartment complex. The man, later identified as 31-year-old Coylee Willis, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said on Monday they believe Willis was in the parking lot of the apartment complex when he encountered the shooter. The shooter is described as an African-American man with a tall and slender build, wearing a black beanie style hat, and a black hooded sweatshirt.
