Altercation after traffic stop

CHINO VALLEY -- Police in Chino Valley are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting.

It happened at about 7:30 Wednesday night, starting with what should have been a routine traffic stop.

While it's not clear yet just what happened, but in the end there was some kind of altercation that caused the officer to draw his weapon.

The officer fired, hitting and killing the suspect.

The officer was not hurt.

At this point, investigators have not released name of either the officer or the suspect.

Chino Valley is in north-central Arizona, about 25 miles north of Prescott.
