Mohave County Detention Officer Anthony "Tony" Nicoletti passed away from complications of COVID-19 early Monday morning.

MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- The Mohave County Sheriff's Office is mourning one of its own. The office posted Detention Officer Anthony "Tony" Nicoletti died from complications of COVID-19 early Monday morning. MCSO didn't reveal any other details.

Officer Nicoletti was a six-year veteran with the agency and was recently a fugitive and warrants officer at the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility. Nicoletti assisted with out-of-state extraditions, in-state prisoner moves and day-to-day court activities. Nicoletti ensured inmates were safely transported to various courthouses in Mohave County.

The office says Nicoletti was a longtime Kingman resident and was loved and respected by everyone who knew and worked with him. "We ask that the community keep his wife, children, and entire family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. To the Nicoletti family, please know that you will always be a part of our law enforcement family," posted on the office's Facebook page
