PHOENIX (3TV/CBS5) -- Democrat Mike Bloomberg is using electronic billboards to take aim at President Donald Trump. The billboards were seen this past Wednesday, they were up for just one day. They carried messages like, "Donald Trump cheats at golf," "Donald Trump went broke running a casino," and "Donald Trump eats burnt steak."
The electronic messages were been spotted in high-profile locations around Phoenix and Las Vegas. This comes as the president wraps up a campaign swing through western states this week, including a stop here in Phoenix Wednesday evening.
Bloomberg and the president have been engaged in a war of words recently. On Wednesday night, following Bloomberg's appearance in a Democratic debate, the president tweeted the following message:
"Mini Mike Bloomberg’s debate performance tonight was perhaps the worst in the history of debates, and there have been some really bad ones. He was stumbling, bumbling and grossly incompetent. If this doesn’t knock him out of the race, nothing will. Not so easy to do what I did!"
Wednesday was the ninth presidential debate, and the first for which Bloomberg qualified. Many of the other candidates on stage attacked the former New York mayor and billionaire on his previous policies, like "stop and frisk" and his campaign's significant ad spending. The president called Bloomberg's showing Wednesday the, "worst debate performance in history."
