MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - A man has died after a deputy-involved shooting Sunday morning in Mesa.

Around 11 a.m., deputies responded to an area near Crismon and Brown roads related to a report of a suicidal person who discharged a weapon before deputies arrived, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

As deputies arrived, the armed man confronted them and shots were fired by deputies, MCSO said.

The man was shot and transported to a hospital where he later died, MCSO said.

MCSO said the suspect was identified as 50-year-old Edward Rudhman.

No deputies were injured.

MCSO said detectives are at the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
