Officers responded to the area of 43rd Avenue and Butler Drive, which is just north of Northern Avenue, around 2 p.m. for reports that a man, later identified 56-year-old Alberto Anthony Urbina, was struck while cross the street. Police say a vehicle was speeding north on 43rd Avenue when it struck the pedestrian, who was in a marked crosswalk. Phoenix fire crews responded and pronounced the man dead.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 21-year-old Sebastian Garcia-Castillo, stayed at the scene and spoke with detectives.
