PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - A Phoenix dad is fighting for his life in the hospital after police say he was shot during a road rage incident. It happened at the intersection of 43rd and Peoria avenues just before 10 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the man got into an argument with a woman driving a blue Kia sedan. They made their way to the intersection where the woman reportedly shot him with his wife and two-year-old child in the car.

"Right now, it is life threatening and he is receiving treatment at a hospital," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Vincent Cole. "After the shots were fired, the SUV accelerated through the intersection and walkway, fortunately not striking any pedestrians."

Investigators say the driver of the blue Kia left before the police got there. Right now, they are not calling her a suspect but said she is a person of interest. This is the third apparent road rage incident in the Valley this week.
"Nothing is going to get settled, car to car. If the situation continues where you are being followed, we encourage people to call 911," said Sgt. Cole.
