MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – A pizza place known for its delectable deep-dish is opening in Mesa later this summer, and it’s already hiring. This will be the fifth Arizona location of Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria.

The restaurant, which will offer only carryout and delivery, is under construction in the Dana Park Village Shops on the northwest corner of Baseline Road and Val Vista Drive. Lou Malnati’s has been in Arizona since 2016. the Grand Canyon State's first Malnati's was in Phoenix. Hundreds of people lined up on opening day. Locations in Arcadia, Scottsdale, and Glendale followed over the years. Now, it’s the East Valley’s turn. The company says a Mesa location has been in its plans for quite some time.

While it won’t have a dining room, the Mesa Lou Malnati’s will have curbside pickup, contactless delivery, and drop-off catering services. The pizza place needs about 50 employees, including delivery drivers, kitchen crew, and phone staff. The company is taking applications now and will be interviewing people in person and via Zoom. Family-owned and operated since opening in the Chicago area in 1971, Malnati’s is best-known for its original deep-dish recipe and is especially popular with Windy City transplants and Cubs fans.
